Is Sunflower Lecithin in your chocolate covered bars a vegetable oil?Updated 2 years ago
No, Sunflower Lecithin is made by dehydrating sunflower seeds and separating them into three parts; solid, oil, and gum in a cold press system similar to making extra virgin olive oil. The gum part of it is lecithin. It’s often used as a supplement for lowering cholesterol.
This is not to be confused with Sunflower Oil which can be extracted using chemical solvents like hexane, or by expeller pressing. Sunflower Oil is very chemically processed and high in omega 6 (inflammatory) and carcinogenic when heated and reheated because of its smoke point. We do not use Sunflower Oil (or any vegetable oils) in any of our products.
